Persepolis Response

One aspect of the book Persepolis that I really enjoyed was the artwork. It was interesting to read the writing and then have a picture to go along with it. This is my first comic book/graphic novel I have ever read and it was a great experience. Reading about a different culture also got my attention. I enjoyed learning about Iran and their different ways. I do recommened keeping Persepolis as part of the curriculum because it was a different but enjoyable readying experience.

Never Grow Up Holden?

This weekend I was listening to Taylor Swift's new album Speak Now. One song on Speak Now is called Never Grow Up. The song is about a girl never wanting her baby to grow up and then at the end of the song she realized that she never wanted to grow up.

No one's ever burned you
Nothing's ever left you scarred
And even though you want to
Just try to never grow up

This part of the song reminded me of The Catcher in the Rye. Holden didn't want to grow up and acted very immature. He acted like that because he had been through so much that the thought of being an adult scared him.
