"Teen-hood"

1. Do these directors and screenplay writers and authors get the teenage experience right? Do you feel like characters such as Holden Caulfield and Jim Stark are accurate representations of what it's like to be a teen? Defend your response.

I think directors and screenplay writers and authors get the teenage experience right to a certain degree. Holden Caulfield and Jim Stark are two out of many examples of teenagers. Everyone teenager is different in their own way and I think directors, screeenplay writers, and authors will never be able to portray every kind of teen.

2. Who does get it right? What character from a movie or TV show not included in the Daily News's slideshow do you think is an accurate depiction of modern teenhood? Explain your choice.

The only movie I can think of that is close to protraying modern teenhood is The Breakfast Club. That movie has teens that are very different and come from different families just like teens today.

  1. Of course it's impossible to construct every teen into a small little box, but do you think there are any examples of what a "real" teen is like? I think that Holden and Jim are probably both the most referenced and the worst examples of teenhood around.
